Dunsfold Park has operated as an aerodrome since 1942. During World War 2, a variety of aircraft operated from Dunsfold including Spitfires, Mosquitoes, Typhoons, Mustangs and B-25 Mitchell Bombers.
Since the War, Dunsfold Aerodrome has been used as a flight test centre and is now designated as a private, unlicensed airfield.
In addition to its aviation activities, the site is now home to many local businesses. It has also acted as a backdrop to a number of Hollywood blockbusters including Casino Royale and The Da Vinci Code. It’s even the home of the Top Gear studio and test track and it made for some interesting site visits with the Stig driving round at hundreds of miles an hour in the latest sports cars.
The project a Dunsfold Park included the diversion and installation of both Gas and Water for the new industrial units within the site.
This was a high-profile site, so Gas downtime had to be keep to an absolute minimum and any shutdowns needed to be out of hours for Water connections. We were able to maintain the Gas pressures using a rider system as you can see from the some of the pictures in the gallery.
